Note: 18-40 yrs old only. Astor Hyde Park won 1st Best Small hostel chain and 1st in the Lifetime achievement awards at the 2015 Hoscars and it's easy to see why. It's located in the upscale neighborhood of South Kensington beside Hyde Park and close to several of London's best museums. Guests have praised this location for being a "wonderful area close to everything [but] also far enough away to be off the tourist trail". One reviewer said this is "a great hostel if you're looking for somewhere central in London without paying a fortune". We like their relaxed, friendly staff, who we've been told are "very helpful, personable and informative".

Located in the most beautiful and charming neighbourhood in London, Astor Hyde Park is one minute from Hyde Park and surrounded by some of London's greatest museums including the Natural History Museum, Victoria & Albert, and Science Museum. The hostel is a short walk from London's best transport connections, including direct trains to Heathrow Airport and all of London's attractions. If this wasn't enough, the iconic pubs, excellent shopping, amazing restaurants, and occasional celebrity sighting make it the perfect place to live while in London! The moment you walk through our doors you become part of our family and we want you to have an incredible experience! We want every detail - from our super clean bathrooms and comfortable pillows to our unforgettable social events - to be perfect, giving you a London adventure that is 10 out of 10! VALID government issued ID required to stay with us, and ALL guests must be between 18-40 YEARS At our amazing hostel you will have full access to: -Free Fast Wi-Fi throughout the building as well as Free PC Access -24-hour reception for anything you may need (including late check-in/early check-out) -CCTV in operation 24 hours a day -Storage Lockers available for your valuables £2 per locker, per day (max 14 days). -Luggage room is free to use on day of arrival! You can leave your items from 2.50 GBP per bag on day of departure (7.50 GBP per bag for everyday thereafter). -Laundry facilities available 24-hours. Hairdryers and ironing facilities free to use -Dining room and common area to enjoy a meal or meet fellow travellers -Beautiful lounge area with comfy sofas and enormous projector screen for movies and sports! Reception hours -Check-out is between 8am and 10am. -Check-in is available between 3pm and 10pm (please let us know your arrival time to ensure someone is there to greet you with a smile!) (A staff member is available 24 hours a day for emergencies, a number will be provided if you have any issues, or you can call the hostel number directly) Charity breakfast Breakfast is available every day from 8 am to 10 am for £3.50 PP. £1 will be donated to charity for every breakfast! Any reservations made for those under the minimum age will be cancelled and you will not receive a refund. The hostel organises daily events aimed at backpackers between the ages of 18-30, it is therefore suggested that guests under the age of 40 would enjoy the hostel the most. Proof of identification must be shown on arrival and can include a passport, driving license and national identity cards. We cannot accept paper driving licences, student, or employee IDs as proof of identity and failure to show proof or a copy upon arrival will result in the cancellation of a reservation without a refund. The hostel has a great atmosphere, multiple lounge areas, countless activities, and an authentic English feel. I love the idea in the downstairs lounge of all hostel guests signing their names, where they are from, and what dates they stayed. I think these signings add a lot of character to the hostel. The winding stairs are fun but sometimes difficult to manage after a few drinks XD

The beds are comfortable and I was lucky to that nobody came to my 4dorm bed so enjoy some quiet sleep. But overall the price, I would expect some hangers to hang clothes, locker included in the price and 3.5 pounds per towel?! A lot more to improve

De kamer was niet schoon, helemaal de badkamer die was echt vies, ik durfde er niet te douchen, en geloof mij ik heb wat hostels gezien. Ook de keuken was smerig, ik wilde water koken met de water koker maar deze was mega vet aan de buitenkant en binnenkant zat vol met kalk aanslag. Het was voor mij maar 1 nacht gelukkig want een 2de nacht zou ik er niet willen verblijven.

Location was the only thing going for this hostel. The rooms were not cleaned regularly. They clearly stained the grout in the shower to cover up the fact that mold was growing on the grout lines. No ventilation in the bathroom was the main reason for that. Half the public bathrooms were out of order or poorly stocked. No paper towel or hand dryers are provided in any of the bathrooms. Super easy to gain access to the building and although the storage area has cameras it didn’t seem secure.

the hostel is full of children jumping and making noises, rooms were very smelly to the degree that I woke up in the middle of the night and got headache all day next morning , bathrooms were dirty , and finally I wasnt refunded the 5£ of the door card as I forgot to tell them (in which they should give it to me on check out not waiting me telling them) I called them to be refunded which can anyone do it by transfer to my bank account they said we cant help you with that!!

Other guests were rude, disrespectful, loud, dirty, messy and kept the light on all night, even after I asked them nicely to turn it off. It’s not the hotel’s fault but they can thank the guests in room 21 on April 3, 2024 for the bad review. I won’t be back.
