Pride is the cardinal sin, and yet so is insecurity.
Yesterday while walking through Villa D’Este my brother was telling me how horrible his old boss was to him and everyone else. While listening to him I identified that all of her rudeness had its root in her insecurities. I said to him “It seems it’s insecurity that makes people the most evil.” These thoughts had been on my mind because I had lost a beautiful relationship recently and I had identified the root cause of my bad behavior as my insecurities. Then, a few hours later my mother said something to this affect. That insecurity makes people horrible to others and it cemented the idea in my head. I think it will be interesting to investigate and think about.
