Navigating Belief, Skepticism, and the Afterlife

  • The Testimony of Truth a gnostic text from the Nag Hammadi Library that identifies Jesus with the serpent in the Garden of Eden.
  • What is Jesus was the serpent. He identifies himself with serpent that the Israelites had to look upon in the desert. Asclepius’ symbol is nearly the same that Israelites had to look upon too.
  • It is also weird how many religions use the snake as a kind of liminal creature. There is also the Ouroboros. I think it would maybe make sense if the serpent is Christ.
  • Alex O’Connor. talks about how the word used to describe the snake could mean that he was actually smart and wise and therefore right.
    • I mean if you follow this logic it makes sense because Adam and Eve do not die like he said they would. And yes there is a consequence, but ultimately they gained experience and were wiser for it. Finally, if it wasn’t for their sin then we would never get Jesus, who is supposedly the greatest blessing on Earth.
  • All of this aligns with things that I have learned and felt over the course of my Summer 2024: Europe Trip I have had the episode with Carla and breaking the window, having sex with Alyssa and falling in Love, and my constant question (that I think is getting answered) “what does it mean to find one’s self worth in Christ? What does it mean to be validated by Christ?”
    • The way this question has been answered for me many times in different ways is that it really is through gaining as many experiences as possible and living on the edge. By forcing yourself to constant be growing and evolving. This sounds cliche right here, but it because I am rushing. Eventually I will write an essay on it and that will be found here: What does it mean to find one’s Self-Worth in Christ?
  • Jordan Peterson talks about Computational Epistemology. I’ve heard him discuss his many times and love it and am excited by it. This is the first time I have heard him name it.
    • It’s what he talks about with overlaying large language models and finding patterns.
    • Jordan may eventually release his classically changed language model which I think would be cool.
